PHP 5.2 Discontinued
We would like to announce that as part of the upgrade to our hosting platform, we will discontinue support for PHP 5.2. End-of-Life (EOL) for the PHP 5.2 branch was Jan 6, 2011, and it is no longer being maintained or updated: http://php.net/eol.php
For a long time we have been offering PHP 5.2 for backwards compatibility, but as it may expose security vulnerabilities and bugs that have been fixed in more recent versions of PHP it is now time to upgrade. The installed version of PHP on our new servers is 5.4.
This upgrade will not cause any problems for the majority of web sites, but some older scripts and applications such as Magento versions before 1.4 will have to be upgraded. A guide for migrating from PHP 5.2 to 5.3 is available here: http://www.php.net/migration53
For Magento, there are a few workarounds available, but we strongly encourage your to upgrade as important bugs and security issues may have been fixed in more recent versions.
You will find a tutorial on how to make Magento compatible with PHP 5.3 in our Knowledgebase:

This should only be a temporary solution and you should upgrade Magento as soon as possible to avoid any problems. If you need assistance with the upgrade, we offer a professional Magento Upgrade Service for only $125 per store. Contact our support team for more information.
